Objective

The student
• analyzes and compares international and national palliative care expert skills in changing operating environments
• reflects on his own expertise and the strengths of his clinical competence and needs for development
• prepares a personal palliative care knowledge and expertise development plan together with his or her own vocational training tutor
• based on evidence, evaluate changes in palliative care and services and their importance for own and work community competence and development.
• is committed to the continuous development of expertise and skills, peer learning and sharing expertise in multi-disciplinary and multi-functional networks
• explain the philosophical and ethical principles of palliative care in clinical decision-making in palliative care and promote their implementation in practice

Content

• Extensive responsibility job descriptions in health care; palliative care clinical expertise, competence development and continuous learning
• Evaluation of palliative care competence and expertise - starting points and development goals
• Palliative care and expertise are guided by international and national regulations and recommendations
• Philosophical and ethical starting points in clinical decision-making
• International and national trends and challenges in palliative care and their connection to future expertise

Qualifications

The student has a basic level (A-level) competency in palliative care.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

S (Pass):
The student understands the international and national competence requirements for palliative care expertise and utilizes them in assessing and developing his or her own expertise. She/he critically assesses, based on evidence, changes in palliative care and services, and their significance for competence and its development. Student actively participates in learning together and sharing expertise in multidisciplinary networks. She/he understands the philosophical and ethical foundations of palliative care in clinical decision-making in palliative care and promote their implementation in practice.

0 (Fail):
The student does not achieve the learning outcomes of the course knowledge at the passed level of the assessment criteria.

Opiskelija ymmärtää palliatiivisen hoidon asiantuntijuuden kansainväliset ja kansalliset osaamisvaatimukset ja hyödyntää niitä oman asiantuntijuutensa arvioinnissa ja kehittämisessä. Hän arvioi kriittisesti ja näyttöön perustuen palliatiivisen hoidon ja palveluiden muutoksia sekä niiden merkitystä osaamiseen ja sen kehittämiseen. Opiskelija osallistuu aktiivisesti yhdessä oppimiseen ja asiantuntijuuden jakamiseen monialaisissa verkostoissa. Hän ymmärtää palliatiivisen hoidon filosofiset ja eettiset lähtökohdat kliinisessä päätöksenteossa palliatiivisessa hoidossa ja edistää niiden toteutumista käytännössä.
