Objective

The students master clinical nursing procedures and the basic technologies associated with them, taking patient safety into account. They are able to give evidence-based justifications for their decisions. The student masters the implementation of drug therapy dose calculations.

Content

Sample-taking, near-patient testing, IV-care (peripheral cannulation, rehydration therapy, adding a medication, infusion automats, injection pumps), defibrillation, ECG, securing respiration (CPAP, pleural puncture, pleural suction), intravenous blood samples, simulation cases, clinical examinations. Drug calculations 1 cr.

Qualifications

The students master basic knowledge, key concepts and methods of social and health care sector customer relationships and setting as well as goals and methods of guidance, health promotion and preventive nursing, and they are familiar with the basic premises of evidence-based decision-making.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Pass (S):
The students apply relevant information to resolving a simulation situation. They can manage key clinical treatment procedures independently, methodically and in a goal-oriented manner, observing patient safety. They are able to give evidence-based justifications for their decisions.
