Objective

The students have skills in evidence-based health promotion, public health work and public health nursing related to sexual and reproductive health, the pregnant woman, the foetus, families in the post-natal period, and children and their families. They are able to plan and implement individually screenings and health checks, interpret their results and draw conclusions on the need for counselling and advice as well as for referring customers to further examinations. They are familiar with and recognize risk factors related to pregnancy and childbirth and are able to take action to prevent them. They are able to carry out individually regular post-natal health checks of a mother and to draw up a certificate of this. The students are familiar with and recognize resources that promote a child’s growth and development, stress factors and needs for special support. They have skills in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and public health nursing in supporting a family's lifestyle, parenting and relationships in cooperation with families in multidisciplinary and multiprofessional teams. The students are familiar with and recognize the medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base relevant to sexual and reproductive health, family planning, a pregnant mother, a foetus, a family in the postnatal period, a child's growth and development and the family.

Content

Health checks and screenings, promoting the health of an expecting family, a child and a family, health-supporting networks and their exploitation, resource-based and family-oriented counselling of a pregnant woman and her family, of a child and of a family, postnatal checkups individually, writing a certificate, promoting the sexual and reproductive health of people in different ages and life stages, recognition and prevention of risk factors, infectious and contagious diseases, public health nursing of families in the prenatal and postnatal period, public health nursing of children and families, neurological assessment of children, medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base

Qualifications

The students master the basic knowledge, key concepts and methods of social and health care sector customer relationships and setting as well as goals and methods of guidance and health promotion, preventive nursing and family nursing, and they are familiar with the basics and methods of evidence-based decision-making and advanced public health nursing.

Excellent (5)
The student:
Demonstrate excellent capabilities for planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and public health nursing related to sexual and reproductive health, the pregnant mother, the foetus and the family as well as children and their families. Show excellent mastery of the sexual and reproductive health, medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base.
Reflects upon choices in learning assignments critically and analytically, diversely drawing on relevant and evidence-based multidisciplinary knowledge.
Is able to assess their capabilities critically and to suggest development ideas, demonstrating creative thinking.
Very good (4)
The student:
Demonstrates very good capabilities for planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and public health nursing related to sexual and reproductive health, the pregnant mother, the foetus and the family as well as children and their families. Shows very good mastery of the sexual and reproductive health, medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base.
Reflects upon their choices in learning assignments in a versatile manner, drawing on relevant and evidence-based multidisciplinary knowledge.
Is able to critically assess their capabilities and to suggest a few development ideas.
