Objective

The students perform reliably and holistically the assessment of a client’s functioning. They can adapt physiotherapeutic methods in disabilities related to central and peripheral nervous systems. They can observe the relations between mental functions and the nervous system and they recognize the most central neuropsychological disorders. The students are familiarized with the potentials of adapted physical activity and they can use different supervision methods. The students contact naturally different groups of the disabled. In addition, the students have developed an exploratory approach and they can critically evaluate the impact of their operation.

Content

Assessment of the functioning and extent of rehabilitation of a neurologic client, potentials of physiotherapy in neurologic, cognitive symptoms and changes in psycho motor coordination caused by disorders of different levels of the nervous system, e.g. tonus, coordination, alertness, communication and memory disorders. Special features of physiotherapy and adapted physical activity both with child and adult neurological clients. (Premature children, CP and mental disability, alertness disorders, ADHD, MMC muscular disease and autistic children. Cerebral stroke and brain injury, Parkinson, MS and spinal chord injury patients as well as neuropathy and peripheral nerve injury patients).
Applying and supervising different forms of physical activities for groups of children and adolescents who need special support, e.g. water exercise, Sherborne method, games, plays and motor tracks.

Qualifications

Knowledge of Therapeutic Exercise, Wellness Technology on Duty of Physiotherapist. Assistive Devices and Environmental Design. Knowledge of neurology, physiatrics, sports medicine and supervision of physical activity groups. Knowledge of Physiotherapy in Public Health Challenges and in Elderly.

5:The student participates actively and takes responsibility for his/her actions by taking the others into account. S/he has wide knowledge and skills, s/he rationalizes his/her actions and creates new solutions. S/he is able to create a plan for evidence based physiotherapy and plan and instruct versatile adapted physical activity. In written assignments, s/he illustrates and rationalizes the subject related phenomena by critically pondering and utilizing diverse and relevant sources.
4:The student participates actively and takes responsibility for his/her actions by taking the others into account. S/he has good knowledge and skills, s/he rationalizes his/her actions and creates new solutions. S/he is able to create a plan for evidence based physiotherapy and plan and instruct adapted physical activity. In written assignments, s/he illustrates and rationalizes the subject related phenomena by critically pondering and utilizing diverse and relevant sources
3:The student participates actively and operates according to the common rules.S/he has good knowledge and skills, rationalizes his/her actions, and aims at connecting and applying knowledge and skills.Based on estimation and clinical reasoning, s/he is able to create a plan for physiotherapy and plan and instruct adapted physical activity.In written assignments, s/he illustrates and rationalizes the subject related phenomena by critically pondering and utilizing diverse and relevant sources. 2:The student participates actively and takes responsibility for his/her assignments. His/her knowledge is composed of fragmented, although relevant, details, skills are limited and s/he has difficulties in making conclusions.Based on estimation and clinical reasoning, s/he is able to create a plan for physiotherapy and plan and instruct physical activity.In his/her assignments, there are a few connections to the presented subjects and reasoning is insufficient. However, the literature of the field has been summarized and references have been used.

Use of sources is unconnected to the subject.
