Objective

The student can determine the need for developing new products for a tourism, catering or facility service company. He/she is able to apply national and international forecast and customer data in product development. He/she knows the different stages of the innovation process as well as the relevant research and development tools in terms of service design. Together with customers, he/she is able to design innovative service offerings that provide story-driven multi-sensory experiences. He/she uses ICT tools in planning. For each service product, he/she evaluates the usability, value generation, innovation and the ability to reinforce the company brand. He/she is able to ensure that high-quality products are produced efficiently, safely, profitably and responsibly.
He/she can select the cost-efficient marketing and sales channels for each customer segment. He/she can evaluate the opportunities for business operations in terms of product innovations. He/she is able to improve his/her creative ability.

Qualifications

The student understands the management of business, service, and production processes and is able to evaluate the opportunities and challenges provided by an operating environment. He/she can set prices for products and evaluate the profitability, quality and customer-oriented nature of tourism, catering and facility services. The student has basic knowledge of project work and research and development.

The student has a narrow view of product development.
He/she can identify the target group and is able to find general information on trends. He/she recognises the innovation process and uses tools. The student is able to evaluate the general quality and customer-oriented nature of products. The student works in a project but does not meet the goals. He/she can work on schedule under guidance.
2 (Satisfactory)
The student has a narrow view of product development.
He/she can identify the needs of the company’s target group and is able to find general information on trends. The student recognises the innovation process and is able to utilise the basic tools. He/she is able to evaluate the success factors and risks involved with products. He/she can work in a project with a team and takes care of his/her duties on schedule. He/she can identify what interferes with his/her creative ability.
3 (Good)
The student is able to find and analyse customer data and identify new product needs based on the data. He/she understands the innovation process and is able to use the tools comprehensively. The student is able to evaluate the success factors, risks and business opportunities involved with products. He/she can select a sales campaign and sales channels for products. He/she is competent in project work and works effectively towards meeting the project goals. He/she is able to improve his/her creative ability.
4 (Very good)
The student is able to find and analyse customer data as well as national and international foresight knowledge and use them to identify innovative product models. He/she understands the innovation process and is able to use tools competently and innovatively. The student is able to evaluate the success factors, risks and business opportunities involved with products. He/she is able to determine creative and responsible solutions to problems and develop long-term value generation of products with regard to customers and companies. He/she can create successful sales campaigns and select cost-efficient sales channels for products. He/she can manage projects efficiently. He/she is able to improve his/her creative ability.
5 (Excellent)
The student is able to find and analyse customer data as well as national and international cluster knowledge in the field and identify innovative product models at different interfaces. He/she can modify the innovation process as necessary and use tools in a comprehensive and creative way. The student is able to evaluate the success factors, risks and business opportunities involved with products. He/she works responsibly and is able to anticipate problems related to the project and its result. He/she develops long-term value generation of products with regard to customers and companies. The student can create successful sales campaigns and select cost-efficient sales channels for products. He/she can manage projects in an efficient and inspiring way, utilise the competence of the team optimally and determine creative solutions to problems.
