Content

• Definition of person- and community-oriented care
• Human orientation in palliative care
• Supporting the resources and participation of people and communities
• Encountering and guiding the patient and his loved ones in palliative care
• The importance of communities and society (third sector and volunteering, religious communities, citizens' knowledge and understanding of existing services, community social capital and openness)
• Death in the media
• The culture of death
• Art in palliative care and hospice care

Objective

The student
• justifies and structures palliative care through a human-oriented concept.
• develop palliative care by utilizing the perspectives of the patient, his loved ones, culture, art and community.
• develop a reference framework for palliative care, taking into account the support of the patient's resources.
• recognize the function of multicultural communities in people-oriented palliative care.
• apply the starting points of people-oriented care in the planning and implementation of palliative care, evaluating the patient as an individual and a member of his community.
• expand the social understanding of palliative care in a national and globalizing context.
• promote the realization of the principles of equality, social justice and inclusion in palliative care and services.
