Objective

The student masters the pharmacology and pharmacotherapy of his/her own area of expertise. She/he masters the mechanism of action of medicaments, the basics of medical treatment and adverse and combined effects of drugs. The student knows the requirements of individualized pharmacotherapy and masters the holistic instruction of a patient in medical treatment. The student is able to recognize the patients who need holistic evaluation of pharmacotherapy and to guide them in service system.

- General priciples of Pharmacology
- Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
- Supporting the self-treatment of a patient and his/her family and promoting commitment to pharmacotherapy.
- Evaluation and development of the knowledge and safety of pharmacotherapy.

Qualifications

Competencies in pharmacology and pharmacotherapy achieved in Bachelor's Degree in nursing.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1 (Adequate) – 2 (Satisfactory)
Knowledge: The student is familiar with the basics of clinical pharmacology and drug therapy in his/her area of expertise. He/she knows the working mechanisms of drug groups in his/her area of expertise, the basics of their therapeutic use and the adverse effects and interactions of drugs. The student is familiar with the requirements of individual drug therapy.

Skills: The student is capable of overall management of a patient’s drug therapy. He/she is able to recognize patients requiring a comprehensive assessment of their drug therapy and to guide them in the service system.

Competence: In self-assessment, expresses his/her capacity for lifelong learning and continuous development of his/her vocational skills in the area of clinical pharmacology. Demonstrates the communication and linguistic skills required in working life in reporting on the course assignment.

Knowledge: The student has a command of clinical pharmacology and drug therapy in his area of expertise. He/she masters the working mechanisms of drug groups in his/her area of expertise, the basics of their therapeutic use and the adverse effects and interactions of drugs. The student understands the requirements of individual drug therapy.

Skills: The student is able to provide overall guidance in drug therapy for the patients and their families. He/she is able to recognize patients requiring a comprehensive assessment of their drug therapy and to guide them in the service system.

Knowledge: The student has an excellent command of clinical pharmacology and drug therapy in his/her area of expertise. He/she masters comprehensively the working mechanisms of drug groups in his/her area of expertise, the basics of their therapeutic use and their adverse effects and interactions, and is able to assess them critically. The student understands the requirements of individual drug therapy.

Skills: The student is able to provide overall guidance in drug therapy for the patients and their families, also in complex situations. Recognizes patients requiring a comprehensive assessment of their drug therapy and is able to guide them in the service system.

Competence: In self-assessment, expresses his/her capacity for lifelong learning and continuous development of his/her vocational skills in the area of clinical pharmacology. Demonstrates the excellent communication and linguistic skills required in working life in reporting on the course assignment.
