Objective
Upon completion of the course, the students master the theoretical bases of strategic change and HR management and are able to critically estimate their role in HR management situations from the viewpoint of theory and practice. They recognise the impact of occupational wellbeing and HR resources on the result of an organisation and understand the significance of HR management, and especially the role of information, communication and trust in change management. Students are able to apply the knowledge and experience they have accumulated to practice in various problem solving situations.
They are able to develop the HR management methods in their work community.
Students are also able to act as a leader and assess the strategic HR management in their organisations.
Content
The course focuses on the strategic management of change and human resources as part of the strategic thinking of organisations. Change and HR management is examined from the point of view of both theory and practice as a strategy and as actions in everyday management situations. The studies also include the role that the development of key HR management tools, such as motivation, bonus and incentive systems, play in everyday management. Organisational culture and the management of change are examined on the basis of the central viewpoints of information, communication and trust.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
1 (Sufficient): The student knows the key concepts of strategic HR and change management. He is able to use some of the methods to develop motivation.
2 (Satisfactory): The student knows the key concepts and theory of strategic human resources and change management. He knows how to use different methods to develop motivation. The contents are looked at an individual’s point of view. The student will write a modest report.
3 (Good): The student demonstrates command of the theoretical discussion. He is able to see the organization's development needs and knows how to use a variety of methods to develop motivation, reward and incentive systems. The student applies what he has learned, and he develops his expertise. He is able to solve problems in working life. He is able to work with people studying and working in groups. The student is able to write a report for publication.
4 (Very good): The student knows the key concepts and theory of strategic human resources and change management. He is able to apply different methods of motivation, reward and incentive systems. The student applies what he has learned, and he develops his expertise. The student is able to solve the problems in working life and to lead things and people. He can serve as a confidence building with different kinds of people studying and working in groups. The student is able to write a good report.
5 (Excellent): The student knows the key concepts and theory of strategic human resources and change management. He is able to apply different methods of motivation, reward and incentive systems. The student applies what he has learned, and he develops his expertise. He is able to develop workplace personnel management practices and know how to manage and evaluate the strategic human resource management in an organization. The student demonstrates critical thinking in terms of new knowledge. He is able to solve demanding problems in working life and to lead things and people in an innovative way. He can serve as a confidence building a different kind of people studying and working in groups. The student will write a high-quality and reflecting report with constructive criticism.
