Objective

The students master the basic structures, operating principles and equivalent circuits of the most common industrial dc and ac motors. They are familiar with the operating characteristics and possible applications of the various motor types. They are able to interpret standard symbols describing the performance characteristics and structure of motors. They are familiar with the excitation systems used in generators and the protection methods of generators. They are familiar with the control circuits of electric motors and the components used in them. They know the basic transformer types and their operating principles and applications. They know the protection methods of transformers.
