Objective
The students
 •	understand the significance of field equipment as part of process control.
 •	know common field equipment used for measuring, adjustment and control.
 •	know the main installation methods and the basics of the placing of process equipment
 •	are aware of the main criteria for equipment selection
 •	know the central design documents related to field equipment
 •	can define and present issues related to installation technology, e.g. installation materials
 •	can choose equipment for basic processes

 Selection and dimensioning of control valves
 Erection technique of process equipment
 Diagnosing equipment
 Design documents related to field equipment
                    
Qualifications
Basics of measuring technique and physics
 Mastery of CAD basics
                    
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Very good (4-5): The student is able to carry out design work having a critical attitude towards different alternatives. The student is familiar with the regularities related to selection and dimensioning. The student is able to document the whole system and understands various effects of it on the assembly and purchasing of the field equipment.
 
 Good (3): The student is able to dimension and select the field equipment needed for the process. The student understands the relations between the equipment and assembly materials as a whole. Documentation is comprehensive and consistent.
 
 Satisfactory (1-2): The student knows the operating principles of the field equipment. The design documentation is adequate if instructed.
