Objective
The students
 •	can use the programming languages in accordance with the standard IEC 61 131-3
 •	master the basic configuration of the PC monitoring stations
 •	can identify the main risk factors related to automation controls
 •	are familiar with the device technology used to reduce the risks in machine and process automation systems
 •	have a general knowledge of fieldbuses
 •	are familiar with more complicated logic control structures

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Very good (4-5): The student can make versatile device-control applications taking safety views into account. The student has ideas about the superiority of different solutions and can justify them. The student can use tools efficiently and knows the device technology well.
 
 Good (3): The student is familiar with the main device applications and can evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of them. The use of tools is successful.
 
 Satisfactory (1-2): The student understands the operating mechanisms of different control systems and can implement them. The basic use of tools is successful.
