Objective

The students have an overall understanding of the phases of an electrical design project and the structure of an industrial power network They know the symbols used in electrical diagrams and are able to interpret main, circuit and wiring diagrams. They know the significance of standards and regulations in electrical design. They are familiar with calculation and simulation software and are able to utilise them in sizing the components and protection levels. They know the basics of load calculation and the technical-economic sizing methods used in the selection of components. They are able to estimate the technical-economic cost/benefit ratio in filtering harmonics and compensating reactive power.
