Objective
The students understand the significance of automation for industry and know the various levels of automation applications in an industrial plant. They know the operating principles applied in control technology and can design and implement a simple control system utilizing typical hardware structures, connection and data transfer solutions, and programming tools.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Very good (4-5): The student understands very well the significance of automation engineering in the industry today. The student has a clear idea about the operating principles of devices and the operations are understood in detail. Building individual automation circuits is successful independently and shows expertise.
Good (3): The student understands the equipment solutions of the automation engineering. Understanding the operating principles of individual devices is not problematic. Understanding the electrical connections is satisfactory. Implementation of automation circuits is successful.
Satisfactory (1-2): The student is familiar with device technology of automation equipment well enough and can produce working automation circuits when instructed.
