Objective

The students master the basic knowledge and capabilities of measuring and they can use the most common workshop measuring devices so that the factors which cause measuring uncertainty are considered. The students understand and take a stand in quality making as a part of normal work. The students master the basic quality engineering thinking.

Content

Calculating and the most common measuring errors, measuring uncertainty and their minimizing, choosing the measuring device and making quality. Basic quality engineeringl thinking.

Qualifications

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student masters the essential knowledge and skills required to get the grade Good (3) and can apply the knowledge acquired in a critical and innovative manner when solving measuring problems e.g. related to laboratory work and when applying the quality principles to practice.
Good (3): The student is familiar with the essential knowledge and skills of the course:
- is familiar with the basic measuring methods in an engineering workshop and can make well-founded choices comprehensively
- can use the most common measuring devices of an engineering workshop taking into consideration the factors causing measuring uncertainty
- is familiar with the factors causing measuring uncertainty
- can define combined measuring errors in more complicated situations
- masters the basic quality technology thinking and can act according to that principle
Satisfactory (1-2): The student is familiar with the basic knowledge and terminology but in the application of the essential concepts the skills are still inadequate. The student can satisfactorily solve unusual measuring problems and also satisfactorily knows the quality principles.

- Assessment is based on the exam and compulsory laboratory work
