Objective

The students understand the reliability engineering thinking and they can apply the most typical reliability and dependability engineering methods. The students understand and can apply also the possibilities of reliability mathematics and probability calculus in reliability modeling . The students can define the usability of an object and its factors and they understand their mutual dependences. The students are able to identify reliability improvement and development targets. The students have the basic capabilities to perform failure and basic cause analyses. The students master also the basics of life cycle calculus and also the calculation principles of overall equipment efficiency.

Content

Concepts and definitions of reliability and dependability technology. Basics of reliability mathematics. Applications of probability calculus. Reliability analyses. Reliability modeling. Basic analyses of failure. Reliability development methods. Basics of life cycle calculus. Overall equipment efficiency in production (OEE).

Qualifications

The students understand the significance and role of the maintenance of a production plant or equivalent as the bearer of production efficiency. They know the content and significance of different maintenance strategies and they recognize the most typical methods behind these strategies. The students understand the operations management principles of maintenance and they perceive the most important themes of life cycle thinking. The students know the most important factors of maintenence thinking and they perceive future development trends in different fields of maintenance.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student masters the essential knowledge and skills required to get the grade Good (3) and can apply the knowledge acquired in a critical and innovative manner when solving a development problem,
Good (3): In addition to the basic knowledge and skills the student masters the following and is also able to apply the knowledge acquired:
- Reliability modeling
- Basic failure analyses
Satisfactory (1-2):The student masters the basic knowledge and skills covered by the course:
- Concepts and definitions of operational reliability and dependability technology
- Basics of reliability mathematics
- Applications of probability calculus
- Reliability analyses
- Reliability development methods
- Basics of life cycle calculus
