Objective
The students know the forms of domestic animal production. They master the practices and main tasks of dairy cattle farms and know their environmental impact. They can handle dairy cows and perform the tasks related to milking in compliance with occupational safety. They can assess how the production environment affects production and the wellness of animals. The students can work with farm machines efficiently and safely. They can drive a tractor and connect a work machine to it, taking occupational safety into account. They know the basic technology of a tractor and understand the significance of proactive maintenance for the operating life and exchange value of a machine.
Content
Basic theory:
- the forms of domestic animal production; production environments
- the anatomy, physiology, behaviour and wellness of production animals
- the main stages of dairy production cycle
- the factors affecting milk quality on a farm
- handling dairy cows, milking and operation of the mechanical milker
- the structure, maintenance and safe use of tractor
Practical exercises:
- handling and milking cows at the school cattle house
- driving and backing up with a tractor
- connecting work machines
- tractor maintenance
- ploughing
- welding
- use of chain saw and clearing saw
- work on a dairy cattle farm
- visit to tractor factory

Inexperienced performer (1-2)
o The students can perform the tasks of domestic animal farms and know their theoretical principles.
Developing performer (3-4)
o In addition to the aforementioned, the students can assess the effects of their own activities on production.
Competent performer (5)
o In addition to the aforementioned, the students can apply their knowledge todifferent farm conditions and develop farm practices and tasks.
