Objective
The students are able to examine critically their skills and knowledge related to the health, health risks and health problems of school-aged children and young people and to sexual and reproductive health issues. They are able to analyse factors that affect the well-being of a school/study community and understand the importance of promoting health in a school community. They have internalised the resource-based and networking operating method as part of their work with school-aged children, young people and their families. They have mastered evidence-based public health nursing of school-aged children and young people. The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate group counseling methods for health promotion. The students are familiar with the medical, nutritional, psychological and social knowledge base relevant to the growth and development of school-aged children and young people and the well-being of those in working age. The students are able to assess factors that promote or undermine the health of working-age people, and use health-promoting methods to improve the health and coping at work of the customers. They recognize key risk factors in work and their impact on health. They develop their capabilities for acting as occupational health care professionals following good occupational health care practice. They consciously examine their personal way of acting in individual, group or cooperation situations. They are prepared to assume a quality-conscious and instructive approach to work.

The students have mastered the resources that promote the growth and development of children under school age as well as stress factors, and they recognize needs for special support.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Excellent (5) The students demonstrate excellent capabilities for planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and public health nursing related to school-aged children, young people and families and the working age population in the customers’ care processes. The students show excellent mastery of the sexual and reproductive health, medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base. They reflect upon their choices in learning assignments critically and analytically, drawing on relevant and evidence-based multidisciplinary knowledge in a versatile manner. The students are able to assess their capabilities critically and to suggest development ideas, demonstrating creative thinking.
Very good (4) The students demonstrate very good capabilities for planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and public health nursing related to school-aged children, young people and families and the working age population in the customers’ care processes. They show very good mastery of the sexual and reproductive health, medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base. The students reflect upon their choices in learning assignments in a versatile manner, drawing on relevant and evidence-based multidisciplinary knowledge. The students are able to critically assess their capabilities and to suggest some development ideas.
Good (3) The students demonstrate good capabilities for planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and public health nursing related to school-aged children, young people and families and the working age population in the customers’ care processes. They show a good command of the sexual and reproductive health, medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base. The students justify and reflect upon their choices in learning assignments, drawing on relevant and evidence-based multidisciplinary knowledge. They are able to provide a versatile assessment of their capabilities.
Satisfactory (2) The students demonstrate basic capabilities for planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and public health nursing related to school-aged children, young people and families and the working age population in the customers’ care processes. They show a command of key aspects of the sexual and reproductive health, medical, psychological, nutritional and social knowledge base. The students analyse their choices in learning assignments drawing on basic literature. They are able to provide a superficial assessment of their capabilities.
