Objective
The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate the activities supporting the healthy growth and development of the school-age children and adolescents by basing her/his knowledge on the school health knowledge base. S/he is able to work in partnership with families and multi-professional groups. S/he is able to operate in an empowering manner and is able to encounter individuals and families with different cultural background. S/he is able to participate in the implementation of different forms of health promotion activities and has competence for working in a school community as a representative of his/her field.
The student is able to evaluate the factors promoting and burdening the health of the working population and s/he can help clients to promote their health and their ability to work. The student recognizes the main risk factors of work and their significance for health. The student is able to act as a professional in occupational health care in accordance with the practices of good occupational health care services. S/he is capable of a developing and good quality work approach.

Qualifications
The students master the basic knowledge, key concepts and methods of social and health care sector customer relationships and setting as well as goals and methods of guidance and health promotion, preventive nursing and family nursing, and they are familiar with the basics and methods of evidence-based decision-making and advanced public health nursing.The students are familiar with resources that promote a child’s growth and development and the good health of working-age population as well as stress factors and recognize needs for special support.

Pass:
The student:
Masters the knowledge base of school and occupational health care and the key contents of environmental health care
S/he masters well enough the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion in the school and occupational health care
The student is able to work in partnership with individuals, families and different work communities
The student is able to encounter respectfully individuals and families with different cultural background
S/he works in empowering manner promoting the wellbeing and health of school aged children, adolescents as well as work aged individuals
The student is able to acquire information independently and with initiative, and assesses the information critically
S/he has good problem-solving skills for public health nursing, which s/he is able to draw on in new situations involving multidisciplinary problems in school and occupational health care
The student is able to improve her/his competence and takes the principles of sustainable development into account in her/his actions. S/he is competent in interactive communication in her/his work community
Are capable of oral communication and documentation for the patient record system as required by legislation.
Follow the work community rules, act with initiative and demonstrate an ability for cooperation
Assess their own actions critically and suggest targets for development.
