Objective

The students

•knows the values, principles, goals and the system and services of child welfare and family work
•understand the basics of child protection legislations
•competent in basics of family work
•Can think and act from the child´s point of view

Content

•Child welfare legislation, process of child welfare work, working methods and measures in non-institutional and in institutional child welfare settings
•¨Different forms of family work and the process
•Documentation in child welfare work
•Ethics in child welfare

Qualifications

The students have familiarized themselves with the entity of Finnish social security policy and psychosocial service system for families. The students understand the connection between societal factors and everyday life. The students recognize preventive child welfare in society.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

• Excellent (5) The student demonstrates to have reached the learning objectives of the course on an excellent level. The student participates in contact lessons and the conversations in online environment and (s)he completed the given assignment. In written assignments (s)he shows excellent capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and to consider them critically. The student follows the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
•Very good (4) The student demonstrates to have reached the learning objectives of the course on very good level. The student participates in contact lessons and the conversations in online environment and (s)he completed the given assignment. In written assignments (s)he shows capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and to consider them critically. The student follows the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
•Good (3) The student demonstrates to have reached the learning objectives of the course on a good level. The student participates in contact lessons and conversations in online environment and (s)he completed the given assignments. In written assignments, (s)he shows capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and to utilize sources. The students follow the reporting instruction of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
•Satisfactory (2) The student demonstrates to have reached learning objectives of the course on a satisfactory level. The student participates occasionally in contact lessons and only a little in online environment. (S)he completes the agreed assignments satisfactorily. In written assignment (s)he shows modest capabilities to describe the subjects of the course and (s)he utilizes sources very little. The student follows only partly the reporting instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.

•Fall (0) The student does not achieve the objectives and the competences of the course. Written tasks are nor completed.
