Objective
• The student recognizes the individual needs of clients as the starting point for preventive and rehabilitative work.
• The student is able to plan, implement and assess the methods for his or her own area of speciality (child welfare, family work, service guidance) when working with clients, families and surrounding network.
• The student can work in multi-professional cooperation with different organizations and people.
• The student becomes more skilled in the application and assessment of his or her own practical theory.
Content
- Supervised practical training in client work tasks in the student’s chosen area of speciality, for example at social offices, substance abuse work and mental health, probation, child welfare, work with families, positions with KELA and labour administration.
- Providing guidance and support for clients and their support network from the perspective of rehabilitative work.
Qualifications
The student has a command of professional and ethical principles of social services. He or she is familiar with client work and counselling in social services, as well as the legislation related to these. The student has become familiar with client work and is adept in the different stages of the client process. The student can apply the methods from his or her area of speciality (e.g. child welfare, family work, and social counselling) and is familiar with the legislation in the field.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Pass
- The student has achieved the learning outcomes for the practical training and compiled a practical training report in an acceptable manner.
- The verbal and written assessments, as well as a self-assessment have all been approved.
- The student is able to give reasons for the principles behind their actions (practical theory) in the operational environment of their choice.
