Objective
The student masters 
 • the theoretical basis of of participation and communality among citizens 
 • the use and benefit of citizen initiated participative methods among the work with different groups 
 • the analyze and application of theory in client work in a social work context when producing services from individual level to structural work 
 • planning and organizing ecological sustained client and communal projects 
 • theoretical framework of ecosocial and sociocultural point of view
                    
Content
Common themes for all students (3 cr.)are: 
 • Social wellbeing and welfare, 
 • Eco social work and supporting the participation among young people 
 •Sustainable development and Green Care
 • theories of participation 
 • the services supporting participation, 
 • socio-cultural animation 
 
 Optional themes, according to the students personal study plan, are participation in 
 - early childhood education 
 - special education and support 
 - child wellfare 
 - family work 
 - youth work 
 - work with seniors and elders 
 - multicultural work 
 - substance abbuse and probation work 
 - mental health work
                    
Qualifications
The student is able to assess the clients’ strengths and needs for social services in different operational environments. S/he knows and is able to apply the principles and methods of social services in client work. Her/his actions are ethical and sustainable.

 • explain and analyze the concepts of communality, participation and structural social work in factual connections and their relations to each other 
 • apply the essential facts of theory to the client work and can implement theory to the everyday situations 
 • assess and evaluate the basics of theoretical orientations in different client work situations 
 • promote and develop participative methods initiated by citizens and compare as well as apply them to the different situations in client work 
 • interpret and draw conclusions based on theory as well as promote methods in contribution of participation
