Objective

The students know the psychological and sociological view of the course of human life and its different phases. They know how to observe human beings as parts of the social network and society. They understand the significance of the different phases of the course of life in the mental-physical-social development and growth of empowerment and they understand the significance of developing their own self-knowledge. The students know the multi-scientific theory of aging and they are aware of their own approach to aging.

Content

Developmental psychological and sociological view of the course of human life. Childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age.
Personality and social psychological factors related to supporting the growth and development of individuals.
Concepts of age and image and idea of the elderly. Multi-scientific basic knowledge of aging. Professional basic knowledge of work with seniors and elders.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5): The students show in their written assignments excellent capabilities to observe clients and groups of clients in their everyday life, in different phases of growth and development and in different situations in life. They understand excellently the significance of the different phases of the course of life in the mental-physical-social development and growth of empowerment. The students participate in contact lessons and in conversations in virtual environment and have completed the agreed assignments.
They pass the exam with a excellent mark. The students follow the instructions for written work of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
Good (3): The students show in their written assignments good capabilities to observe clients and groups of clients in their everyday life, in different phases of growth and development and in different situations in life. They are aware of the significance of the different phases of the course of life in the mental-physical-social development and growth of empowerment. The students participate in contact lessons and in conversations in virtual environment and have completed well the agreed assignments and the exam. The students follow the instructions for written work of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
Satisfactory (1-2): The students describe in their written assignments only a little different clients and groups of clients in their everyday life, in different phases of growth and development and in different situations in life. They understand satisfactorily the significance of the different phases of the course of life in the mental-physical-social development and growth of empowerment. The students participate partly in contact lessons and in conversations in virtual environment and have completed satisfactorily the given assignments and the exam. The students follow only partly the instructions for written work of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
