Objective
The students know a process, content and methods of family work in various environments. They know how to guide and support families with children, based on a strength-centred and solution-focused orientation. Students understand the significance of an interprofessional collaboration and networking in child welfare and in working with families with children.
Content
Definitions of family work and working processes in family work.
Contents and working methods of family work, concentrating on strength-based and solution-focused orientation.
Supporting families with children: review on international practices and programmes.
Qualifications
The students understand the connections of family change and societal change and recognise the challenges of different families in coping with everyday life.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Excellent (5)very good (4): The student participates very actively in contact lessons and in virtual studies, and completes the assignments emphasizing the developmental point of view in family work. S/he masters the newest knowledge of the field and uses it as a base for forming critical and creative development ideas. The student understands the relationship between the principles, methods and tools of family work, and their significance for family work and its development.
Good (3): The student participates actively in contact lessons and in virtual studies, and completes the assignments independently according to the objectives. S/he masters the newest knowledge of the field and s/he demonstrates critical thinking in development work. The student understands the significance of the principles, methods and tools of family work for everyday family work.
Satisfactory (2): The student participates in most contact lessons and virtual studies, and completes the assignments demonstrating to master the basic knowledge of family work. The level of understanding of the significance of the principles, methods and tools of family work is low
Sufficient 1: The student’s participation in contact lectures and in virtual studies is insufficient and s/he has difficulties in mastering the basic knowledge of family work.
Fail 0: The student does not master the basics of family work and s/he is not able to complete the basic assignments independently.
