Objective

The student
- knows the various competence areas of managerial activities and understands the requirements set for a managerial role in the management of a tourism company
- understands the significance of the managerial role and different methods of leadership as a business success factor and as the developer of a healthy work community
- knows the key regulations of the labour legislation as well as the main principles of the key collective agreements in the tourism services sector and can apply them appropriately in practice
- can reflect on his or her own managerial capabilities and is capable of working as a manager.

Content

- leadership and the requirements of the managerial role as well as one's own capabilities in a tourism service company
- different views on leadership and management(for example, change management, team leadership, wellness leadership, competence management, age management, leadership in a multicultural work community)
- managerial ethics and the key labour legislation governing leadership, and the key contents of the collective agreements of the field
- planning of labour use, and drawing up a rota
- management of personnel and client safety

Qualifications

Student knows the basics of management. Student is aware of the environment of the tourism and hospitality industry.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent 5: The student demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of leadership and the managerial role and is able to evaluate critically and analytically the importance of different management methods in terms of the business and the well-being of the work community in different leadership situations. The student has demonstrated excellent skills in applying the stipulations of the labour legislation and collective agreements in practical exercises. An entrepreneurial attitude to work is clearly present.

Very good 4: The student understands the importance of leadership and the managerial role in terms of the business and the well-being of the work community. The student can analyse the effectiveness of different management styles and methods. The student has demonstrated very good skills in applying the stipulations of the labour legislation and collective agreements in practical exercises. The student displays an entrepreneurial attitude.

Good 3: The student understands the importance of the managerial role and different management methods in managerial work, and demonstrates a certain degree of critical thinking in evaluating different management styles. The student is familiar with the labour legislation and the stipulations of collective agreements and is able to apply them appropriately in practical exercises.

Satisfactory 2: The student is familiar with tasks related to the managerial role and different leadership perspectives, and understands their importance in managerial work. Under guidance, the student is able to apply the labour legislation and the stipulations of collective agreements in practical exercises.

Adequate 1: The student is familiar with tasks related to the managerial role and different leadership perspectives. The student is somewhat familiar with the legislation regulating personnel management and the stipulations of the collective agreements of the tourism field.
