Objective

The students understand the significance of system independent metalanguage from the viewpoint of the management of electronic documents. In addition, they can plan structured documents on the basis of the XML standard and produce, with the chosen tool, web or server applications in accordance with the XML standard family.

Content

The focuses of the course are Extensible Markup Language (XML) and accociated languages; especially multi-layer XSL and XSLT used for designing document layouts in the network; SAX, DOM and XML designed for parsing, as well as the linking languages XPath, XLink and XPointer. The XML standard family supports document versatility, system independency and transferability. The course consists of two parts: 1. XML and other associated and close standards and tools. 2. Implementing an XML-based process with laboratory tools.

Qualifications

The students master the entity of producing a WWW site or service
