Basics of Network Technology (3cr)

Objective

The students know and master the operating principles of computer networks and their basic technologies in Finnish and English, according to international standard classification.

Content

Network typologies, types and technologies. The basic components and protocols of network technology, particularly regarding LAN. Performance perspectives and basic dimensioning of a network. IP protocol, especially as regards addressing. The operation of TCP and UDP. Basics of data security. Documentation of networks.
