Objective

The students master the central data network technologies affecting telecommunication, as well as related mathematical methods.

Content

The mathematical methods used to calculate the utilisation ratio and capacity of a transmission path. The factors affecting a transmission path in different transmission media (wire/wireless communication, antennas), the (physical) interfaces of network technologies, transmitter and receiver technologies, effective modulation systems (QPSK, DPSK, QAM, OFDM), spread spectrum techniques, use of bands, filtering, error management, ARQ techniques, data compression.
