Professional English for IT (3cr)

Objective

The students deepen and broaden the oral and written language skills, which promote the know-how of their field, and the knowledge of the cultural traits of the language area. The students are motivated to maintain and promote their language skills as a part of their professional identity.

Content

The following contents adapted according to the field of specialisation: presentations, e.g. product and company presentations, the concepts of the field, resumés, e.g. reports, memos, summaries; information retrieval, argumentative communication, e.g. expressing opinions, negotiations, reclamations

Qualifications

The Common European Framework level B2 (See the description in the Language Centre's intranet page) and compulsory language studies.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The course includes written and/or oral exercises and a sample portfolio of vocational English gathered from them.
