Objective
The students are able to analyze the more complicated structures of popular music's styles. They recognize the most common scales and are able to use them in improvisation. They can figure out functional harmony and the most common scales related to it.
Content
Analysis of popular music's diverse styles and features. Chord formation and expansion, understanding of harmonic function and its application in scales
Qualifications
The students are familiar with the basic principles of Western popular music. They can make out musical structures and are able to analyze them satisfactorily.

The students recognize the theoretical features of pop/jazz music.They know the main methods of analysis and are able to use them fluently. They command popular music's rhythmical, melodic and harmonic features connected to structure and profit from their use while playing. They are able to teach the pop/jazz musical analysis learnt, if need be.

The students are able to analyze pop/jazz pieces of diverse styles. They know the main methods of analysis and profit from them while playing.
Passable 1 - Satisfactory 2
The students are able to analyze diverse samples of pop/jazz music. They take part in contact teaching and are able to complete their assignments satisfactorily.
Fail 0
The course is failed when the minimal requirements are not met.
