Objective
The students know and discern both aurally and in writing, the harmony of the late Romanticism and the central techniques and stylistic features of the post and free tonal music of the 20th century.
Content
The modulating melodies and harmonies of the late Romanticism, tall chords, chords without a traditional function (e.g. Debussy), synthetic scales (e.g. Bartók), free tonal and dodecaphonic melodies, altering time signatures, multi-layered rhythms.
Qualifications
The students know the stylistic features of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism and Romanticism. Preconditions: Solfege 2 or corresponding skills.
