Pop/jazz Solfege Elements (3cr)

Objective

The students master the basics of pop and jazz solfege and can take dictation of rather easy exercises by ear. The melodies used for dictation are diatonic and chromatic, in duple and triple rhythms, and make use of the most usual chord cadences.

Content

The most general melodic, rhythmic and harmonic aspects of pop and jazz styles aurally and in writing.

Qualifications

Good command of chords, chord functions and scales.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Participation in contact lessons and exam.
