Elements of Improvisation (3cr)

Objective

The students are familiar with improvisation possibilities mainly at the piano, but also in their own instrument and singing. They have acquired the confidence to play free from the score to such extent that they can, for instance accompany musical gymnastics by improvising.

Content

Various accompanying patterns, scale and chord cycle exercises. Simple transcriptions, song harmonization and transposition assignments.

Qualifications

The students command short-hand chord realization at the piano. They can accompany light music and improvise in blues chord-cycles.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Active participation in lessons. Completion of assignments.
