Finnish Folk Music (3cr)

Objective

The students are familiar with the central styles of Finnish folk music and a versatile repertoire, both through singing and playing an instrument. They are able to use 5-string kantele (Finnish zither) and other traditional instruments in their work.

Content

Finnish folk music through playing and singing, e.g. the song tradition of the Kalevala, and different traditional instruments. Basics of 5-string kantele and electronic kantele.

Work in class and matinee
