Objective
The students know the main styles, trends, personalities, and genres of western art music from the Classical period to the end of the 19th century. They are able to place the historical phenomena of music within a wider cultural and social context.
Content
The phenomena of western art music as part of the change in cultural history from the Classical period to the end of the 19th century. The stylistic features and main genres of music, the aesthetic outlooks on music in different periods, their performance practices, instruments, musical institutions, and concepts of music theory in different periods.
