Objective

The student acquires familiarity with the structural principles of composition, from Gregorian Chant to the Classical Period. He/she understands their background and is capable of explaining in analytical terms his/her understanding of complete units.

The student is familiar with western music's basic concepts at music institute's level. The student must pass a placement test or corresponding elective basic studies

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Based on sample work, assignments and exams. Precise information about these and their subjects is given during the first few lectures
