Objective
The students
•know the structure of trade, its recent changes, and can recognize development trends
•understand the effects of internationality on markets and consumer activities
•know the goals and means of consumer policy in Finland and in the EU
•know the authorities and volunteers handling consumer issues, and their tasks both in Finland and internationally
•recognize the visibility of a consumer perspective in the operation of companies and organizations
•are familiar with the background and development of the international consumer movement
•know the essentials of the Finnish social security system

Qualifications
The students know the central concepts and ways of action of Finnish consumer society. They define their own initial level at the beginning of the course.
