Objective

Students have experience of the central nursing interventions, in particular, within the care of elderly patients. They know the basics of aseptics and can apply them in practice. They understand the significance of professional encounter in the care of patients. They can apply medicine calculation without mistakes. Students are familiar with the main areas of micro-biology, as well as able to identify the stages of the nursing process.

Content

The basic needs and nursing interventions of elderly patients, in particular. The basics of aseptics. Different forms of medicines, drug calculation and administration. Encounter and interaction with, in particular, elderly patients and close relatives. The birth mechanisms of infectious diseases, defence mechanisms of the body, hospital infections. The process of nursing.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Participation in class training.
Successfully completed exams and medicine calculations.

Successfully completed written assignments.
