Objective
They understand the phases and effects of medicines in the system, and have a basic knowledge of the most common medicine groups. They know what the effects of the drugs used for common illnesses are based upon, and what side-effects and interaction with other medicines their use may cause. They know the structure of human body, its operation, and related concepts. They can search for knowledge of anatomy and physiology in different sources, and apply it. They know the etiology, diagnostics, medical treatment, and clinical guidelines for national diseases.
Content
Basic knowledge of the medical treatment of common national diseases, the phases and effects of medicinal substances, side-effects and interaction. Cytology and histology, skin, the digestive system, the urogenous system, the nervous system related to the regulation of life processes, and the endocrine system. Medicine related to the main national diseases.

The students demonstrate through assignments that their competences meet the learning outcomes. Written assignments are assessed based on separate criteria for written assignment.
