IT Supporting the Disabled (5cr)

Objective

The students understand the significance of IT and other technological applications and devices/software in the life of people with sensory/multiple disabilities. They can assess the applicability of these to meet the clients' individual needs. In addition, they can use and guide clients and their cooperation partners in the use and acquisition of the devices and applications.

Content

Central contents are IT applications, software and devices and their exploitability and use from the viewpoint of individual learning/support needs of the disabled. In addition, familiarisation with acquisition of assistive devices of IT and recommendations and legislation supporting it.
Accessibility of electronic services.

Qualifications

The students know the basics of sensory disabilities and multiple disabilities and they understand what support needs people have as a result of disability. The students must be aware of the general legislation concerning the disabled.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

To get the course passed student should compleate individual and grouptasks accordingly as well as participate actively in classroom settings and visits.
