Objective

The students have sufficient basic skills for the guidance of client work in close management and in disability services. They also have a basic ability for the development of client work and services as well as supervise them, for financial administration, and for the assessment and promotion of the functioning of a work community. They are aware of the significance and means of developing staff competence and ensuring workplace wellness.

Content

Management concepts and psychology;
The task areas of close management: personnel administration and policy, organising and planning work, financial administration;
Initiative in managerial work, network-oriented approach; work development methods, strategic thinking and quality development work; mentoring and on-the-job training; meeting and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

The students have developed extensive competencies in client work and service systems through their earlier professional studies and practical training.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

excellent (5): the students participate in contact lessons and virtual studying and complete the agreed assignments.. In written assignments they show the ability to describe and justify the phenomena of the topic. The students follow the instructions of JUA for written assignments.
very good (4) - good (3): the students participate in contact lessons and virtual studying and complete agreed assignments. In written assignments, they show ability to describe and justify the phenomena of the topic by exploiting Finnish sources. The students follow the instructions of JUA for written assignments.
satisfactory (2) - sufficient (1): the students partially participate in contact lessons and virtual studying. The students complete the agreed assignments. They take an examination passable. In written assignments, they describe the phenomena of the topic without justifying them and using only some source material. The students partially follow the instructions of JUA for written assignments.
