Services for Substance Abusers and Probation Service Work (6cr)

Objective

The student
- recognise phenomena related to drug abuse and crime, and links between them, as well as their background and interpretation models of the problems
-knows the basics of addiction and probation service systems and the levels and means of addiction and criminal policy
-recognises and assesses their own values and attitudes towards drugs and drug abuse and to crime and committing crimes
-is aware of the general values and norms related to drug abuse and crime

Content

Interpretation models of drug abuse, service system and legislation of addiction services, substance abuse treatment, basics of drug and crime policy, operation system of criminal care, crime process, consequences and particularly the crime problematics of children and youth, operation models and cooperation partners of drug and criminal work.

Qualifications

The students know operational environments, and the basics and methods of client work in the social field, and they have completed orientation practice.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Active participation in lectures and excursions, mastery of the subject field demonstrated in essays.
