Objective

The students are able to evaluate, plan and implement psychosocial individual and family work.

- Cognitive approach in substance abuse work and motivating client interview
- Drug addict care
- Substance abuse problems of women and families
- Central probation service legislation and reform projects
- Rehabilitation and projects in community sanctions and prisons
- Substance abuse rehabilitation in probation services
- Forms and methods of work in the Probation Service
- Third sector in probation services
The students are familiar with the approaches and methods of substance abuse work, especially from the viewpoint of early intervention / support, care and rehabilitation.
The students are able to broach the substance issue and give up-to-date information on the matter.

The students are familiar with the entire field of rehabilitative probation service work, as well as current legislation and development projects. The students have the competence to apply the regulations and methods of probation service work to young offenders and recently released offenders.
The students are familiar with the service system of mental health rehabilitation and they familiarize themselves with different methods and practices supporting rehabilitation, and with voluntary and organizational activities.

The students recognize the significance of different crises and crisis situations and the means of their psychosocial treatment, especially the solution of crisis work.

Basics of psychosocial crisis work: traumatic crises, life and development crises, family violence, and acute substance abuse, crime victim, and mental health clients and work with them

Qualifications

The students know the basics of substance abuse and probation services and the related cooperation partners. The students know the principles of client work in the field.
Basic studies of psychology and mental health work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Lectures, independent information retrieval exercises, reported excursions, essays, self assessment,
visiting experts from projects and organizations, group work, book analysis/home exam
Lectures, independent information retrieval, reported excursions, essays
Group assignments, active participation in excursions and class work, home exam/book analysis. The criteria of numerical assessment are presented at the beginning of the course.
