Advanced Methods in Socio-Cultural Work with Seniors and Elders (5cr)

Objective

The students know and apply the methods of sociocultural senior and elderly work in a versatile manner. They assess the functionality of the work methods and develop new working ways and methods for the different stages of the customer work process, based on the sociocultural idea of aging and the elderly. The students develop the operation of multiprofessional work groups.

Content

Methods of charting customers' life situation and needs
Resource and concern map
Customer negotiations
Creative methods (e.g. physical education, music, drama, according to group's choice)
Generation and family work of the aging people

Qualifications

The students structure aging and senior and elderly work from the sociocultural viewpoint and understand the connection between various information bases with the aging cultures of service and operation environments. The students recognise the resources of the life of elderly people and exploit them in customer work. The students know the turning points of the life of the elderly and the possibilities of the service system to support the elderly. The students understand the theoretical basics of work forms and methods in elderly work and can apply them in the professional practice of sociocultural senior and elderly work.
