Psychosocial addiction treatment and propation work (5cr)

Objective

The student knows and can use the most essential methods of addiction treatment and probation work in the fields of prevention, early support and treatment. She/he can evaluate a client´s rehabilitation needs, carry out the treatment and service plan and work as a service counsellor in the network of public, private and NGO-provided services.

Preventive work in social- and health care services
The methods of early support
Working with challenging clients
The methods of out-patient and institutional care in addiction treatment
The development projects in probation work
Rehabilitating probation work
NGOs role in addiction-, drugs- and probation work

Qualifications

The student knows the basics of addiction treatment and probation work,the basics of client-work and different ideological approaches in this field. He/she also knows the basics of psychology and mental health care.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Assessmet is based on knowledge, skills and general competencies in relation to study competences (National- and European Quality Framework NQF/EQF, level 6).
Successfully passed items of assessment are assessed on the five step scale, which corresponds to the ECTS grading system. A description of competence at different levels are 5(excellent),4(very good),3(good),2(satisfoctory) and 1(sufficient). A course is failed (0), if student does not achieve the minimum objectives set for the course completion.
