Objective

The students are able to design a transport system for new products or product groups, develop an existing system, and form tailored transport solutions. In addition, the learners know the properties and use of different design models both theoretically and through the use of application software.

Content

The starting points of transport system planning; planning at operational, tactical and strategic levels; classification of transport, different types of transport problems, the impact of the choice of distribution channel on transport system, the factors affecting decisions on the planning of delivery network, transportation economics and measuring, utilisation of a data system in planning, the basics of route planning, load planning and pricing, geographical information systems, utilisation of action research methods in planning, use of planning tools

Qualifications

Good general knowledge of logistics, knowledge of basic operational research methods, mastery of derivation and integral calculus, the basics of mathematical statistics, ability to choose a technically and economically suitable means of transport for a given purpose, the ability to calculate transport costs and to price transport services, as well as recognising the supply chain structures of materials and products.
