Objective

The students master the external processes of paper making and their operating principles, and they can also size roughly the main devices of the processes. The students understand on what theoretical knowledge the sizing of different part processes is based. The students master the central know-how produced and needed in process design and they can also utilize it as the basis of design. The students have the readiness to work in cooperation with the process designers of a paper mill.

Content

The processes and sizing of the water and air systems, steam and condensate system, and pulp systems of a paper mill.

Qualifications

The students know the structures of the machines in paper- and board manufacturing lines and also their significance in paper making.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5) the student has attained the objectives of the course at an excellent level.
Good (3-4) the student has attained the objectives of the course at a satisfactory level.
Satisfactory (1-2) as a rule, the student has attained the objectives of the course.
