World of Dance 2 (3cr)

Objective

The students are familiar with various dance cultures, ethnic dances and their symbolic meanings. They have developed their bodily skills and dance techniques and widened their realm of experience by studying the ritual, religious and social meanings of dance.

Content

Introduction to Afro dance, Asian dance, Oriental dance, and European dance, plus their musical tradition. The course also includes body maintenance exercises.

Qualifications

Earlier dance experience is not required.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Active participation and thoroughness in exercises and in the implementation and presentation of assignments.
