Objective

On completion of the studies students willbe conversant with the main methodological principles of intellectual and conceptual history researchhave become acquainted with various trends in the research of the history of political culturesdelved more deeply into the ideological trends of some era (for example the Enlightenment, nationalism, liberalism, socialism, conservatism, fascism, democracy)On completion of the studies through contact teaching students will also have acquired experience of groupwork and improved their interactive skillsenhanced their oral interactive skills and negotiation skillsacquired skills for operating in new situations On completion of the studies through examinations on set books students will also have enhanced their problem-solving skillsimproved their written skills and argumentation skillsacquired skills in the analysis of information and the ability to comprehend extensive entities On completion of the studies by writing essays students will morever have learned more about information seeking and writing scientific textenhanced their written communication and argumentation skillsacquired experience of project skills by planning their own actions and use of time

Content

Students will be introduced to approaches to the research of intellectual and conceptual history and political culture and to the main ideological trends in European and Finnish history.

Active participation in teaching and written assignments or lecture exam. Completion by independent study – essay or book exam. Active participation in the study group and written assignments.
