Objective

The object of the course
You will learn how to do international workforce planning, recruitment, development and training as well as performance evaluation and management. You will also learn to consider legal and ethical aspects in intercultural teams.

The learning objectives of the course

You are able to critically review, analyze and understand information available from academic and professional business sources in intercultural management and leadership field.
You can apply disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze business challenges and trends to propose or take in action practical intercultural management situations based on the findings.
You know how to communicate responsibly, effectively and professionally in English in oral and written formats and participate in inter- and multicultural settings and demonstrate teamwork skills.
You understand issues of ESR and find their meaningful applications in the business practices and decision-making in intercultural management and leadership.

Content

International Workforce Planning and Recruitment, Performance Evaluation and Management, Development and Training, Legal and ethical aspects in Intercultural Teams, Project Management in international and multicultural context.
For each content unit there will be processes and analytical tools provided for implementation of learned model and concepts

Qualifications

First year course of Management (JAMK Degree students) or equivalent course in basics of management completed.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Adequate 1:
You are familiar with the ways to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant to to intercultural management and leadership.
You know how to analyze business challenges and trends in intercultural management and propose viable action in a guided situation.
You can transmit your ideas and findings in English and participate in multicultural teamwork to a limited extent. You are able to identify some basic ESR-related issues and discuss superficially their meaningful applications in intercultural settings.

Satisfactory 2

You show basic ability to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant for intercultural management and leadership. You can to a limited extent analyze business challenges and trends and propose solutions related to international management and leadership.
You are able to get your main message through when presenting your ideas and findings and have basic teamwork skills in multicultural teamwork. You are able to identify and assess some ESR-related issues for intercultural management and the action related to them and discuss some of their meaningful applications in intercultural settings.

Good 3
You can analyze and evaluate business data and consider possible approaches and outcomes for intercultural management and leadership.
You are able to analyze business challenges and trends and propose solutions for intercultural management.
You are able to present your and your team’s ideas and findings in English and participate in multicultural teamwork.
You are able to identify and assess the ESR-related issues and to discuss their meaningful applications in intercultural settings.

Very Good 4
You have the ability to analyze and evaluate intercultural management information from various sources.
You can analyze complicated business challenges and various trends and propose practical solutions for intercultural management.
You are able to present your and your team’s ideas and findings in English on a level clearly above average of your peers and participate productively in multicultural teamwork.

You have ability to analyze, evaluate and combine academic and business information from various sources on intercultural management and leadership.

You are able to present your and your team’s ideas in a convincing manner in English and participate in and manage multicultural teams. You are able to identify and assess deeply and widely the ESR-related issues and discuss their meaningful applications in intercultural settings.
