Student workload

FACE TO FACE AND DISTANCE LEARNING: • 95h Contact lessons, seminars, webinars and online studies (one part of online studies may be replaced by participation in the international intensive week) • 40h Visits or workshops & practical training (e.g. using the Housing Enabler or PAGS assessment method) • All together 135h (Includes about 2 contact days at JAMK)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Passed

The student understands the role of communities facilitating or inhibiting occupational engagement. The student can explain the principles of community based interventions and cultural impact on the occupations, persons and occupational performance.

The student can critically evaluate and apply a range of information related to the course topics and evidence to ensure that practice is up-to-date and relevant.

The student is familiar with the theoretical basis for the Housing Enabler OR the PAGS and the related research, and knows the basics of the assessment method. The student has practiced the use of the assessment method in a community setting.

Objective

The student knows different communities and understands the role of communities facilitating or inhibiting occupational engagement. He/she is able to facilitate accessible and adaptable environments and to promote occupational justice. The student can collaborate with communities to promote the health and well-being for their members through their participation in occupation.

The student understands how environment can affect well-being through occupations. He/she understands the principles of community centered work and cultural impact on the occupations, persons and occupational performance. He/she can actively seek, critically evaluate and apply a range of information and evidence to ensure that practice is up-to-date and relevant to the client.

The student has studied either the Housing Enabler (the home accessibility assessment method) or the PAGS (the Play Assessment in Group Settings) assessment method and is able to use the method. The student is familiar with the theoretical basis for the method and the related research.
